About Us – Arcadia

Who are we?

We’re just your typical geeks, makers, DIY lovers, and tech enthusiasts. We grew up on a diet of sugary snacks, iconic pop culture films, and incredible games that inspired us to dream big, feel like heroes, and embrace our inner badass. In short, basically your average guy.

Why Do this?

Initially, the concept stemmed from our wish to have an arcade cabinet in our home. We aimed for it to enable us to enjoy our beloved classic games from various consoles, handheld devices, and eras. However, it needed to be affordable, compact, and easy to tuck away. The design decisions and overall philosophy emerged from these constraints. Once we finished our cabinet, it garnered a lot of interest. We had such a great time working on this project that we decided it would be wonderful to let others join in and create their own arcade experiences.

Why not go plug-&-play?

We initially thought about taking that path and purchasing pre-programmed electronics, but we realized it would significantly restrict the customization options for the final product. We believe that enjoying the games is just one aspect of the overall experience. We weren’t keen on the idea of it becoming merely a decorative item that you buy, play once, and then put aside because the games didn’t match your preferences. Our goal for this arcade is for it to be actively used and to adapt to your needs over time. Additionally, since it’s not designed for programmed obsolescence, understanding the technology and construction of the cabinet means you can easily customise, troubleshoot and repair most issues that may come up in the future.
